Good Design means
good Business

Hi! I’m Katherine Chui, a UI/UX & Visual Designer based in Canada. I believe that design should prioritize impact over form — it’s not just about producing work, but understanding and evaluating its effect. My approach is experimental and human-centered, focused on creating meaningful, user-centered experiences.

With over 5 years of experience, I have shaped digital products for government, community, and commercial clients, skilled in UX research, interaction design, prototyping, and front-end collaboration, with a strong foundation in brand and social media visual design. I enjoy executing creative ideas that help clients solve real problems, enhance user experiences, and bring their vision to life.

About Me

My Philosophy

Fueled by the Design Process

Design isn’t just about eliminating complexity or friction — it’s about creating clear, intuitive, and meaningful product experiences. I enjoy balancing thoughtful complexity with simplicity, and once I’ve mastered design principles, I like to push boundaries to create unique solutions.

Building Clear Experiences with Empathy

As a UI/UX designer, I dive deep into problems to uncover effective solutions. Tackling challenges fuels my enthusiasm for crafting the best possible user experiences.

Constantly Challenging Assumptions

Rigorous iteration and testing help me validate assumptions when exploring new challenges. It’s easy to be overconfident based on past experience, so I embrace trial and error to ensure solutions remain user-centered and effective.

My Approach

How I Work

1.
Product Definition

Define the project scope to align stakeholders on objectives, goals, deliverables, and responsibilities, ensuring clarity and focus for efficient design and development throughout the project.

2.
Research

Understand business and user needs to identify problems and explore potential solutions during the research phase.

3.
Analysis

Dive into user journeys, personas, stories, and pain points after research to ensure team alignment and a clear understanding of user needs.

4.
Exploration

Explore design solutions through testing, iteration, team discussions, and problem-solving to discover the most effective and user-centered approaches.

5.
Refinement

Develop user flows, wireframes, and prototypes to guide visual design decisions and prepare the product for final design implementation.

6.
Visual and Motion Graphic Creation

Design unique visual elements and motion graphics based on wireframes while adhering to the brand guidelines.

7.
Handoff

Collaborate closely with developers and engineers to ensure accurate implementation of design specifications and a smooth transition from design to final product.

8.
Monitoring

After product launch, track performance to identify areas for improvement, ensuring the experience remains optimized and users receive the best possible interaction.
